Gitanjali (Song Offerings), Gora (Fair-Faced), and Ghare-Baire (The Home and the World) are his best-known works
His compositions were chosen by two nations as national anthems: the India's Jana Gana Mana and Bangladesh's Amar Shonar Bangla.
The composer of Sri Lanka's national anthem: Sri Lanka Matha was a student( Ananda Samarakoon) of Tagore, and the song is inspired by Tagore's style.

His Brother Satyendranath Tagore was the first Indian to join the Indian Civil Service.
In 1901 Tagore moved to Santiniketan
In 1915, the British Crown granted Tagore a knighthood. He renounced it after the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
